While Benjamin Franklin’s writings are replete with nuggets of wisdom for his day, I think they are more applicable for today’s day. Take this one for example:
He that would catch fish, must venture his bait. Benjamin Franklin
You’re not going to catch fish without a line in the water. You’ll never know until you give it a shot. Fish, or cut bait.
Business Perspective
From a business perspective, it can be very scary to start a business. I remember when I first started selling houses. My first listing was actually my first flip house. We bought it at auction for about $120,000. It was a real fixer-upper. But we went to work on that house. We gutted all the old carpet and junk. We picked colors. We painted. We carpeted. Then we tore out the whole kitchen. We installed beautiful new cabinets. We did counter tops. We put a new roof on the house. We put a new garage door on it. We completely landscaped the home and made it gorgeous. We painted the whole exterior of the house.
Then, the moment of truth came. I buried a real estate sign out front with my brokerage’s name on it, and I put my own name on a rider on the sign.
I was worried about what poeple might think. I was worried about how the house looked. IPerhaps most of all, I was worried that someone who knew me might actually think something about me.
But when we put the sign out, it wasn’t that big of a a deal. We started getting calls on the property. And we sold it. In-house.

Mortgage Perspective
Most everybody I’ve met would like to pay off their mortgage. But most people think that they have to wait until they have all the money they need to pay off their mortgage. You don’t need to wait! Start now! If not now, when?
“But,” replies the doubtful homeowner, “I don’t have the money!” Well, you do have money. You don’t have to have a ton of money to get started. It starts with the $1. As you read the book, “A dollar saved is Five dollars earned.” Wealth starts with the $1’s.
